\nStatement of Faith<\/h1>\n
<\/h3>\nOne\u2019s core beliefs make up the foundation upon which one\u2019s values and actions are based.\u00a0Below are statements of belief held by the counselors at Sonlight Counseling:<\/strong><\/h4>\n <\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God\u2014that the Scriptures, both Old and New\u00a0Testaments, are trustworthy, revealing God\u2019s will for the salvation of human beings and standing as the\u00a0final authority for all matters about which it speaks.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That there is one God, eternally existing in three persons\u2013Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, led a sinless life, died to\u00a0make atonement for our sins, and rose again; that He is alive, seated at the right hand of the Father as\u00a0our mediator and advocate; and that He is coming again.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That God desires all to come to know Him through His Spirit and that salvation is by grace through faith\u00a0in Christ as one’s Savior.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That the Holy Spirit is present today living in Christians and enables us to live a godly life.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That we should strive to lead holy lives and that we must have concern for the hurts and social needs of<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That all sin and that we serve a God who had compassion on sinners and taught us to forgive others as<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That the ultimate goal of Christian counseling is to help others move to personal wholeness,\u00a0interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0That all psychological principles should be thoroughly evaluated through the grid of Scripture and that\u00a0Scripture always holds the final authority. We do not harbor any beliefs or practice any therapeutic\u00a0techniques that we are convicted would violate the principles of Scripture.<\/p>\n
We believe in the sanctity of life. We welcome with open and loving arms all who have had or contributed to\u00a0abortions, not only to experience God\u2019s forgiveness, but also to grieve the resulting losses and, with God\u2019s help,<\/p>\n
We also believe in the importance of marriage between a man and a woman and, as therapists, do all we can to\u00a0preserve marriages, encouraging couples to work together to bring about restoration. However, we also\u00a0recognize the Bible permits divorce and remarriage for either adultery (Matthew 5:31-32), abandonment (I\u00a0Corinthians 7:15), or abuse (Malachi 2:16). We welcome all who have divorced or have been divorced as they\u00a0seek psychological healing and a new beginning. Recognizing the devastating effect divorce has on children and\u00a0extended family, we encourage these hurting individuals to seek assistance in their own healing process.<\/p>\n
